Our Mission

To establish power trade as a recognized business in Nepal along with establishment of Electricity Exchange in Nepal by facilitating power trade between sellers and buyers within Nepal and across borders.

PTEEL's mission will be to serve the general public , supplying reliable and regular electricity through Electricity Exchange in Nepal and creating electricity market, both inside and outside Nepal.

To develop PTEEL as a leading vibrant agency for power trade and electricity exchange in Nepal.

PTEEL's dream is to create a vibrant electricity market , that delivers quality and reliable power supply to the people of Nepal & establish a profitable venture for power sales to the neighboring countries.

Power Trade and Energy Exchange Ltd (PTEEL) was incorporated at the Office of Company Registrar of Government of Nepal in August 2020.

The objectives of PTEEL include, but are not limited to, power trading within Nepal and in the South Asian Regional Electricity Market, electricity origination business,

development of financial instruments for power trade, and ultimately, establishment of an electricity exchange in Nepal. business and industry.

OUR OBJECTIVES
The company will deliver reliable, affordable electricity to the consumers.
The company will create electricity market both for domestic and cross border power trade.
The company will import electricity from South Asian Power Market, when needed, and export surplus energy to neighboring countries.
The company will deal with the sale and purchase of electricity through Electricity Exchange Centre.
The company also has the mandate to implement renewable projects for power generation.
The company will deal with all power trade related services.
STRATEGY

Licensing

To secure Approval/Trading License from Nepal Government for power trading inside Nepal and across the borders, PTEEL has already applied for power trading license in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEWRI), through Department of Electricity Development (DoED).

Advocacy

To advocate for adequate transmission line network inside Nepal for cross border transmission line, Since adequate network of transmission line network is a must for wheeling of power, PTEEL will consistently advocate for expanded network of transmission line with adequate capacity.

Lobbying

To lobby for private sector supportive laws and regulations for hassle-free power trade/exchange Open Access Policy is needed to enable private trading companies like PTEEL to wheel power for trading purposes, through the transmission line network. PTEEL has been lobbying for private sector supportive Laws and Regulations, including for Open Access Policy.
